''A'' allele was associated with peripheral neuropathy and low density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation in subjects with diabetes mellitus. Oxidized-LDL:LDL ratio was significantly elevated in ''A'' allele carriers (GG vs. GA/AA: 16.3 ± 2.4 v 18.0 ± 2.9 U/mmol LDL, p = 0.02). OR for peripheral neuropathy in the ''A'' allele carriers compared to the GG genotype was 1.95 (p = 0.02) [R].

A stronger association was found between several smoking variables and alcohol intake and lung cancer risk among ''AA'' carriers than among GG and GA carriers [R]. 

A decreased mortality rate associated with aging was seen in individuals holding the ''A'' allele (HR (TT/TC)=0.93, p=0.008) [R].

''G'' allele was significantly associated with glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activity and the GA genotype showed the highest correlation [R].

The ''A'' allele was associated with prostate cancer and recorded a significantly higher glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activity compared to the controls [R].
