The T (minor) allele is associated with:
- Elevated levels of serotonin outside of the brain [R].
- Lower insulin with each T allele and higher fasting glucose due to a lack of insulin secretion from GLP-1 and GLP.
- Lower glucagon although it increases the risk of diabetes.
- A 1.4 fold increased risk for T2DB from one T allele and a 2.15 fold increased risk for colon cancer.
