The Minor "G" allele is associated with:
- Decreased human longevity (R). HSP-70 levels are much lower in GG than in AA monocytes (P = 0.015) and lymphocytes (P = 0.044). Lower levels of HSP-70 (chaperone proteins) means that proteins cannot always be folded properly. This causes aging.
