The Minor "G" allele is associated with:

  • Decreased human longevity (R). HSP-70 levels are much lower in GG than in AA monocytes (P = 0.015) and lymphocytes (P = 0.044). Lower levels of HSP-70 (chaperone proteins) means that proteins cannot always be folded properly. This causes aging.

The Major "A" allele is associated with:

  • People with AA or AG were more likely to develop insulin resistance when exposed to phthalates (R).
