The ''A'' allele was significantly associated with isolated systolic hypertension (ISH) (A allele frequency was 0.103 in ISH patients, 0.079 in essential hypertension (EH) patients, and 0.047 in normotensive (NT) controls; P = 0.002, P(corr) = 0.01) [R].

The minor allele ''A'' was also associated with intracranial aneurysms (IA) rupture. 31.3% of patients with ruptured IAs were carriers of the minor allele, whereas only 23.2% of patients with unruptured IAs carried the minor allele (odds ratio 1.51; p = 0.013) [R].
