The C allele is associated with:

  • People with the C allele have an almost 30% reduced risk of dying during an 18 year follow-up study in the general population (R,R2).
  • People with a C allele had better glucose tolerance indicated by 0.34 mmol/l lower glucose levels(R).
  • Obese people with the C allele especially had better glucose tolerance (R).

The T allele is associated with:

  • TT was at a higher risk for diabetes(8.91X risk) (R).
