The Function of SFTPD

Contributes to the lung's defense against inhaled microorganisms, organic antigens and toxins. May participate in the extracellular reorganization or turnover of pulmonary surfactant. Binds strongly maltose residues and to a lesser extent other alpha-glucosyl moieties.
